Back in the Pool

A quick break from bike trip write-ups.  On Tuesday night I went to the Pro Club masters swimming workout for my first swim in 13 days.  I expected to feel a bit out of it but I turned in some time splits that I was very happy with.  I certainly emptied the tank in each of the two main sets, but it felt good to go fast.

Warm-up: 300 swim, 200 kick, 200 pull
12x25 as 3x(fast-easy, easy-fast, fast, easy)
3x200 fastest possible average on 4:00
12x50 fastest possible average on 1:30

I managed to go 2:08, 2:08, 2:10 for the 200s and almost all :28s for the 50s.  (short-course yards) … some guys I race against are much faster than this and some are much slower, but for *me* those are good times.  I’m not a terribly good sprinter, so :28 from a push for 9 of 12 50s is pretty sweet.  I even dropped a :27 in there once!
